I currently live in Chicago and write Colorphilia, a newsletter about anything that has the slightest relation to color. Histories, etymologies, random facts, you name it. (It’s free to subscribe.)
Professionally, I spent a significant portion of my career as creative director and director of creativity and strategy, with a recent increase in focus on collaborations. I also have a degree in computer science, and really enjoy figuring things out.
I paint, draw, write, code, collage, photograph, digitally edit, and print photography, among other things.
My art practice is currently focused on playing with color as well, but I’m not limited to that. My creative process is all about experimenting with new mediums, materials, and processes. In some projects, I imbue whim and whimsy. In others, a lot of research. And at times, I do both.
On my Instagram account (@ezrabutler) I often small random artistic experiments without context. When I release a collection, it is usually somehow related to many of posts from the previous months.
